1. To provide a supportive, structured environment in which the
clients are able to communicate with and relate to others who are
deaf and hard of hearing or are sensitive to the needs of this
population.
2. To assist the client in identifying and modifying behaviors,
which are currently preventing functioning in a less restrictive
setting.
3. To assist the client in developing daily living skills needed
to function as independently as possible within the treatment
program as well as in independent living situations.
4. To strengthen the client’s ability to communicate effectively
with others by using a Total Communication Model.
5. To improve the client’s ability to relate to others socially,
for personal growth and facilitation of effective relationships
with others.
6. To provide educational and vocational support to enhance skill
development necessary for self-support and improved
self-sufficiency.
7. To assist each client in beginning to assume personal
responsibility for themselves and their behavior.
